Yeah, I’m one of those aspiring writer types. The type who spent all of his youth dreaming of telling his own stories, then shying away from it completely out of fear of rejection and failure. Instead I spent years conforming to the more stable path of attending university and working the way up the career ladder, but all the while dreaming of what could be. Thanks to the world being flipped on its head due to a worldwide pandemic, I eventually came to realise that this life was just not going to cut it for me. My true passion is to write. So, here I am now, nearly 50,000 words into the first draft of my debut epic fantasy novel, and feeling comfortable saying that fact out loud.
I’ll be sharing updates on my book as I trundle forth. This will include some sneak peaks into the world and characters in creating, along with the general trials and tribulations of trying to write an entire book in my spare time (I unfortunately haven’t worked up the nerve to quit that stable career job yet).
Sneak Peak of Chapter 1 of my debut novel
In pursuit of my burning desire to get a new post up, and also in the hope that sharing something work-in-progress from my novel will in-turn launch me back onto the writing train that I was riding so fancifully before, I’ve decided to share a small snippet from my current draft of Chapter 1. Key word here is draft. Draft, draft, draft!
Introducing… The Governess (A Character Profile)
There’s still a long way to go with my debut novel, but I thought it would be a fun idea to start sharing some brief snippets of the world and characters that have been living in my head (and more recently on paper) for a long time now. First up, we have Monika Olsson (otherwise known as The Governess).
