I’m totally obsessed with The Sims video game franchise. Always have been. Always will be.
There’s something hugely captivating about having the ability to create and mould your own little universe full of Sims to watch over and help flourish (or not - if you wish!). For me it largely stems from my desire to tell stories as a writer. The Sims is a hugely fun outlet for some of that creative energy.
I’ve been a huge fan ever since I jealously watched my older sister play the original iteration in the early 2000s, and it cemented itself as my favourite pastime once my parents bought me The Sims 2 for my 11th birthday in 2004. I played that particular iteration of the game for many years, often taking lengthy breaks away from it as I navigated adolescence, but always coming back eventually.
I skipped The Sims 3 entirely, and it was only in 2020 that I finally sought out The Sims 4 in search of better graphics and new content. It’s safe to say I’m in deep.
