It wasn’t long before Betsy realised the full extent of her actions.

She’d unwittingly thrown herself into sudden parenthood (of her own grandmother).

No one else in the family was even willing to entertain the idea of raising little Nancy.

In fact, most of them found the whole situation rather hysterical.

“Mama, more pancake pwease?”

“Nancy. I’m not Mama, remember? I’m just Betsy.”

Nancy seemed puzzled.

“Okay, Mama.”

Oh my. What had Betsy gotten herself into?

Despite the difficulties in adjusting to their new circumstances, Betsy had to admit that these were already the best memories she’d ever created with her grandmother.

Toddler Nancy also happened to be super adorable.

As the unlikely pair began to settle in their new ‘normal’, Betsy began to realise she had yet to really enjoy Young Adult life. She’d gone from perpetual danger to sudden motherhood.

On top of that, her painting career had stalled, and she was yet to have a romantic relationship with another Sim.

She spent most nights on the sofa with a glass of wine and a copy of Simgue. She knew she needed to shake things up.

Betsy had actually developed a little crush.

She’d recently joined an online support group (Sims Recovering from Nancy Landgraab Trauma), and had got talking to one forum member in particular.

She only knew him as his username SS, but she really wanted to meet him in person. They had built a connection on this site, however odd the circumstances were.

Betsy and her online friend eventually agreed to meet one day, at a cafe in Willow Creek.

Betsy was riddled with nerves as she awaited his arrival.

She had yet to tell him that the person they’d bonded over being traumatised by, was actually still alive and under her care. The more she thought about this, the more she wanted to get up and walk away…

And then he arrived.

Betsy hadn’t known what to expect, but she certainly didn’t think he’d be this handsome…

“Hey, I’m SS… but I guess you can just call me Sul Sul now.”

“Sul Sul… what an interesting name.”

“Yeah,” he smiled. “There’s quite the story behind that one.”

Betsy was instantly enamoured by Sul Sul, but desperately tried to keep her cool.

“Well, perhaps you can tell me your story sometime.”

“I’d like that. Now, I didn’t catch your real name yet?”

Betsy gulped. There was so much he didn’t yet know.

“Umm… I’m Betsy… Landgraab.”

Sul Sul twitched.

“Landgraab?”

It’s fair to say that Sul Sul was surprised to hear of Betsy’s relation to Nancy. It didn’t seem a complete dealbreaker, however.

“We all have our own history with her,” he said.

After finishing their coffee, the pair took a long walk. Perhaps it was her inexperience in the field of dating and love, or just the effortless charm Sul Sul exuded, but in any case Betsy began to fall hard.

She certainly didn’t want to ruin things by telling him of Nancy’s new life as a toddler.

The next time Betsy and Sul Sul met up, it was on an official date. Betsy had been so pleasantly surprised when he had text her just the day after their previous meet-up, asking her when she was next free.

Things just felt so comfortable between them.

Over a few glasses of wine, Sul Sul shared the story of how he’d washed up in Tartosa with no memory of who he was, and Betsy explained that she’s a Spellcaster in a Coven formally led by Nancy.

Towards the end of the night, Betsy started to feel super guilty that she still hadn’t told Sul Sul of Nancy’s ‘rebirth’.

She knew she didn’t want anything to progress between them until she’d come completely clean, but then Sul Sul pulled her in for the most romantic kiss.

It was her first ever.

swoons

The following day, Sul Sul autonomously turned up outside the Landgraab Townhouse…

“Umm… Sul Sul… uhh, what are you doing here?”

“I just wanted to stop by to let you know how much I enjoyed our date yesterday.”

“That’s great… I mean, me too… but I’m kinda busy…”

Sul Sul suddenly became distracted.

“Umm, Betsy… whose that crawling down the stairs?”

Betsy froze up.

“Well, that depends… is there any chance it’s *not* a little blonde girl that you see?”

Gulp…

“Oh Sul Sul, I’m so sorry I didn’t tell you before. You see, there’s a bit more to the Nancy story than I originally let on. The old her is gone, but she didn’t die, per-say…”

(Side note: Not toddler Nancy trying to sneak past undetected whilst all this us going on.)

Sul Sul’s eyes widened.

“Wait a minute, you’re not about to tell me that’s THE Nancy, are you?”

After a moment of silence in which Betsy didn’t respond, for she had no idea what to say, Sul Sul suddenly burst into an uncontrollable fit of laughter.

Betsy erupted into laughter too, all tension suddenly evaporating from the room.

Eventually, Sul Sul found the ability to form words again.

“It’s okay, Betsy. Truly. How about we go talk about all of this over a nice cup of tea? Or in Nancy’s case, a cold glass of milk.”

Ah, what a totally normal situation this all is.

Not the most typical of family dynamics, but perhaps they could make it work?

You can’t say they don't look oddly cute together… if you ignore everything else.

Following Nancy’s deposal, Betsy was also required to appear before the Sage Council .

They would determine whether she’d be suitable as the next Supreme of the Landgraab Coven. This was kind of a big deal.

“How do we know she won’t just become as reckless as her grandmother?” probed Morgyn. “Maybe we should just disband the Coven altogether.”

“I think she’s more than proven herself,” retorted Simeon. “She’s the one who finally dethroned that tyrant Nancy… and in the most hilarious of ways too.”

L. Faba nodded to that.

“Amen.”

There was no further discussion after that - Betsy was officially anointed the next Landgraab Supreme. The youngest one ever.

Betsy and L. Faba took part in a friendly duel afterwards.

“I’m so pleased for you Betsy - you’ll make an incredible Supreme. Remember how Nancy did her best to hide your Spellcaster powers from you? Well, this has always been your destiny.”

“Thank you. You’ve always been so kind to me.”

“Just please don’t end up like your grandmother,” she joked, pulling Betsy in for a tight hug.

That wasn’t the only big event to happen in Betsy’s life that day.

That’s right - she had her very first woohoo with Sul Sul.

(The Watcher is choosing to COMPLETELY ignore the potential ickiness of this situation i.e. Sul Sul’s previous romantic history. If you know, you know…).
