Delphin’s first day of high school….

Don’t worry, Nalani arrived just in time (in her undies, nonetheless) to plead for his life.

His newly obtained Hydration need was low, so naturally he’s gone to the outdoor pool in the dead of winter. He’ll get used to being a mermaid, eventually.

Finally, mother and son can swim together as mermaids.

What a beautiful sight!

This is a very proud moment for Nalani, and a very exciting one for Delphin.

Brothers.

The Watcher really ought to start giving a bit more screen time to little Merywn (spoiler, he never does).

Delphin enjoys spending time with him, though.

So, in true teen fashion, Delphin already has a bit of a romantic dilemma.

He’s developed a crush on a girl from school, Padma Ramaswami, but he’s also become somewhat attracted to his childhood friend Betsy Landgraab… what the Plum, Delphin?

Question - Is it weird if he dates his cousin’s cousin?!

(Probably, yes).

Eh, he went with the less complicated option.

It’s probably best to keep this Legacy’s now two heirs on separate paths for now.

Anyway, Delphin’s first ever date with Padma went… well.

It was a pretty good setting for a first kiss!

Gianico is not ready for his little girl to age up already (and neither is the Watcher!).

But it’s about to happen, regardless.

Well, here she is. Johnny Ze-, I mean…Dolly Zest, as a teenager. Gosh, they really do look alike.

Dolly remains the Kattan Legacy’s Gen 3 Spare, and she adds the Romantic trait to her previously held Genius trait.

This… doesn’t seem safe (or sanitary).

Get down from there, Teddy and Elsie!

Dolly and Delphin are good teenagers, who still love to attend their frequently scheduled dinners with Gianico and Nalani.

And yes, Nalani will always be THE moment. Forever and always.

Gianico is not to be messed with, apparently.

He’s nearly at the top of the Military career these days.

For the sake of completeness, because I never talk about my Sims’ careers, Johnny is also nearly at the top of the Comedian career.

What is that you see, Gianico?

A… a… a dinosaur?! Surely not!

To be fair, there are crazier things in this game. Like cowplants who devour legacy heirs.

Gianico and Johnny have come on a romantic getaway to Mt Komorebi.

It’s their first vacation alone together since Dolly was born, and this may be hard to believe… but they are actually *very* close to becoming elders.

Here we have the lovely boys on the slopes.

Johnny was not enjoying it quite as much as Gianico, but he still managed to remain on his feet!

Fun fact: Gianico came snowboarding in Mt Komorebi a lot as a teenager.

Just look how he’s matured over the years!

The true Gen 2 heir, honestly. Huh? Wait, who just said that? Hehe.

Meanwhile… Nancy has invited her other son Malcolm on an important errand.

“Mummy, why did you bring us here? Whose grave is this… and why is it open?”

“It is mine. Unfortunately the Watcher refuses me a third dose of the Potion of Youth, so my days are numbered.”

“Listen, Malcolm. You’ve been the perfect heir to me. Evil. Selfish. Willing to assist in covering up my many crimes. That daughter of yours on the other hand…”

“Betsy.”

“She’s no Landgraab heir. We both know she can’t be the one to take over the mantle once you’re gone too.”

“…Yes. Only one of my granddaughters is worthy of the Landgraab name, and it’s not Betsy.”

ominous music begins playing in the background

When Betsy returned from school later that day, she happened upon a book laying open on her desk… how odd. Inside was a message, sprawled in fresh ink:

“Betsy. Below is an address. Please, go here, then follow the dirt trail. You deserve the chance to prove yourself.”

Betsy was a very curious sim, and so she simply had to find out what this message was all about. She slipped out of the house, and went to the address.

From there she followed the dirt trail, and ended up….. here.

What was this mystical looking thing?

Betsy swore she could hear voices whispering her name from somewhere within the archway. They told her to step forward, and he couldn’t stop herself…

Umm… where was she now?!

(yes, the Watcher had just bought the Realm of Magic pack at this point).

Betsy found herself wandering the halls of a large building not far from the portal she had emerged from.

Everything was so very strange here…

“Ah, you must be the Landgraab girl. We’ve been expecting you.”

Betsy startled. She hadn’t realised she was being watched.

Who was this odd looking Sim?

Betsy gulped.

“Yes, I’m…”

“Dolly. Yes, yes. I know your name. Your grandmother said you’d be arriving soon.”

“No, you’ve got it wrong…” began Betsy, but the other Sim was no longer listening.

“Let’s get on with it then. There’s no time like the present.”

Betsy felt utterly exhausted the following morning when she awoke to the sound of her alarm. What the plum had happened last night?

She barely even remembered how she had made it home…

Betsy’s mind was far from her studies that day. Her head felt like it might explode, and the strangest sensation pulsated throughout her body.

It was as if something was bubbling up inside her, culminating in a tingling feeling at the tips of her fingers…

“It’s nice to finally see another of our kind in this school.”

Betsy glanced up to see a face she didn’t recognise. She hadn’t even noticed class end, honestly.

“Don’t worry. It’ll be rough for a few days, but then the fun begins. I’m Gemma Charm by the way. Consider me a friendly face.”

Betsy planned to tell Dolly everything at lunch, but her cousin had news of her own.

“Grandma Nancy sent me the weirdest text this morning. I’m to go to this address and follow a dirt trail. Odd, right? Something to do with fulfilling my Landgraab destiny.”

Betsy suddenly felt queasy. She sensed trouble.

Betsy had a lot of thinking to do that evening.

It was clear something within her had changed, and that whatever it was had been meant for Dolly instead.

Yet someone had intervened… hurtling Betsy into whatever this was. She was sure Nancy wouldn’t be pleased when she found out.

Betsy didn’t have to wait long to find out, though.

A flash of light suddenly burst before her.

“Well, well, well. Is there something you wish to tell your Grandma Nancy?”

(Yes, evil Nancy is now evil witch Nancy. Sorry not sorry.)

Betsy didn’t know what to say, so it was Nancy who spoke again.

“Rise, my child.”

Betsy reluctantly did as she was asked, and before she knew it a bright light came hurtling towards her.

What the Plum…

“Ah, now that’s better. If you’re going to be in the Landgraab Coven, you ought to at least look the part.”

Betsy opened her eyes and peered down at herself, to find she was now wearing an odd looking ensemble.

An enormous sigh of relief followed. She thought she was about to become a pile of ashes.

“I…. I thought you were going to… wait, did you just say the Landgraab Coven?”

The pair sat for a long overdue chat.

“So you’re not mad at me, Grandma?”

“Look. I’ll admit I didn’t intend for you to join the Coven. I think you far too weak-minded for the art of witchery, and so I had long ago named Dolly my heir. And yet… fate has now given you the chance to prove me wrong, it seems.

“A good heart isn’t the same as a weak mind, Grandma.”

“It is to me. Yet as I say, now is the time to prove me wrong. It’s not going to be easy, for you or Dolly. I expect greatness of my Coven, and I won’t hesitate to expel those who disappoint me.”

“I wont let you down.”

“By the way Grandma, who was it that left the note leading me to the Magic Realm?”

Nancy’s face soured.

“That would be your father, Malcolm. He thought to try forcing my hands regarding the future of this legacy. Turns out he does have something resembling a backbone, after all. Still, you won’t be seeing him for quite a while now, Betsy.”

So, here are the Landgraab Witches. A new twist in the Legacy story, but a fun one - I hope!

Which one of Nancy’s granddaughters will follow in her footsteps and rise as the next Supreme/Landgraab heir?

Betsy threw herself into her witch training after that, determined to prove Nancy wrong.

She discovered it was incredibly empowering to harness the power of magic. In fact, she couldn’t get enough of it.

In that regard, she was most grateful to her new friend Gemma Charm, for the hours she spent practicing with her.

Betsy’s natural talent in witchery came as quite the surprise to both grandmother and granddaughter alike.

It sure did feel good to prove Nancy wrong.

Betsy and Gemma’s friendship blossomed outside of their witch training too.

Betsy had never had a close confidant before. At least not one who was yet to be caught up in the drama of her family (though how long would that last).

Betsy would often get overconfident, trying spells she wasn’t ready for yet. Woops.

That’s how you become the best, though.

She honestly kinda slays this charred hair look, anyway.
